About Kelly Whitt

What inspires you?

I am inspired by the work of others. The more I read, the more I feel my own burgeoning creativity. I also feel inspiration in new experiences that I want to share with others.

What can’t you live without?

I can’t live without my contact lenses. I’m amazed that even with evolution I can still have such terrible eyesight. In days of yore, I would have been the first to walk off a cliff or not see the angry grizzly bear approaching.

What is your guilty pleasure?

My guilty pleasure is puzzle books sold next to the grocery store checkout lane. I prefer a mix of word puzzles from Dell or Variety Publishers. Whenever I need to escape the unpleasantness of the world, I pick up my puzzle book and get lost in a puzzle.

What are your hobbies?

My hobbies include visiting the national parks. I’ve been to 28 different national parks with a total of 49 separate visits – some are so great I have to go multiple times! I also enjoy reading about the parks and sharing what I’ve learned on Twitter at @natlparktrivia.

I enjoy writing about everything from quasars at the edge of the visible universe to what throw pillow looks best in your family room. Besides writing for online outlets, my published works include crossword puzzle books, a historical romance trilogy, a dystopian young adult novel, and a children’s picture book about the weather on the planets.
