What inspires you?
I am inspired by nature. I often go for walks to clear my head and to refresh. I find that practicing gratitude while appreciating what surrounds me makes me happy and clears away any mental clouds.
What are your hobbies?
My hobbies include knitting, collecting flotsam and jetsam on the beach, reading, and playing with my cats. I also love to dance and have an addiction to Jazzercise – yes, Jazzercise is still a thing and it’s awesome! You should try it.
What can’t you live without?
I can’t live without my cats. I simply can’t imagine my life without cats. They cheer me up, they make me laugh, they snuggle with me while I write. And sometimes they bring dead mice to me when I’m sleeping – okay, that only happened once but it’s left me traumatized.
What was the best advice you received?
The best advice I have been given is “They don’t know what they’re missing if they don’t know what they’re missing.” This is sort of cheating because I came up with the advice myself long, long ago. But I tend to want to throw everything into something I’m writing – give the reader, viewer, or listener the full experience. And that’s just not possible in most situations. Learning to edit myself has been difficult, which is why this bit of advice is so important to me.
