About Rebecca Phillips

What did you aspire to be as a child?

When I was young, I dreamed of being an author, like my hero Judy Blume. For years I saw writing as just a hobby, never believing I could do it as a career. Now, several published books later, I’m happy to have proved myself wrong.

What’s your guilty pleasure?

My guilty pleasure is reality TV. I love all the old-school reality shows like Survivor, Big Brother, The Amazing Race, etc. Some of them (like Big Brother) are complete trash, but watching all these different types of personalities interact with each other fascinates me.

Where is your favorite spot to hang-out?

My favorite place to hang out is at home. I’m a textbook introvert and a homebody. If I couldn’t hang out at home for some reason, I’d choose a bookstore or a library.

Where is one fictional place you would visit?

One fictional place I would visit is Hogwarts. I’d probably spend most of my time hanging out in the Hufflepuff common room, eating Chocolate Frogs and drinking butterbeer.

I’ve been writing professionally for ten years. I’m the author of several published YA novels: OUT OF NOWHERE (2012 Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award finalist), FAKING PERFECT (Kensington, 2015), ANY OTHER GIRL (Kensington, 2016), THESE THINGS I’VE DONE (HarperTeen, 2017), and THE GIRL YOU THOUGHT I WAS (HarperTeen, 2018).
